USGS Topographic Maps

USGS topographic maps are available either in print, on the 4th floor of the Mary Idema Pew Library, or electronically. Print maps are arranged alphabetically by state in drawers A1-K11.

There are several options for electronic maps:

Michigan Maps

Maps of Michigan are available in print in drawer K12 on the 4th floor of the Mary Idema Pew Library. Historic maps of Michigan are kept in Special Collections, in Seidman House.

Other Maps

National Geographic maps are available on the 4th floor of the Mary Idema Pew Library in drawer K12. These maps are primarily historical and thematic.

Maps from government agencies, including CIA country maps, are available in drawers L1-L8.

All other maps, including road maps and city maps, are available in drawers L11-L14.

Can I check out maps?

Maps are generally non-circulating, meaning you can't take them out of the library, but we do sometimes make exceptions for use in classroom or research. Please contact the Collections team for more information.
