Searching for stories, plays, and essays
- Essay and General Literature Index This link opens in a new windowFor finding non-fiction essays collected in books with different titles.
- Short Story Index and Retrospective This link opens in a new windowShort Story Index contains detailed descriptions for almost 100,000 short stories published since 1984 in a range of magazines. Stories are searchable by fields such as genre and literary device in addition to author, title, publication and the like.
- Play Index This link opens in a new windowhelps you find a copy of a play. It lists plays from 1949 to the present, in or translated into English, including one-act plays, pageants, plays in verse, radio & TV, & classic drama. Search by title, author, subject, style, genre, etc.

Using book-length scholarship in English can help you:

- Find quality articles anthologized by topic
Most books pertaining to scholarship in English are located on the 4th floor of the Mary Idema Pew Library in the "P" range. The databases found under the Find Articles section of this guide also often contain books and e-books.
