Finding quality scholarly information beyond GVSU Libraries

Free information and critical thinking

You won't have access to expensive academic databases and journals when you leave college. You will have access to a vast amount of information available for free on the internet. To use it well, you need to think critically about what you find. This guide offers free sources of good information along with criteria for identifying what's good and what's junk.

Keep in mind that, even in top-tier print journals, bad information finds its way in, through both fraudulent research and honest mistakes. It's always important to look in several places. Check your sources. Talk to your professor.
