JBM 256: News Reporting: Newspapers

Current Newspaper databases

To search multiple newspapers at once, chose Advanced Search, put the titles in quotations in the top box with the word OR in between each: "New York Times" OR "Washington Post" OR "wall street journal" and change the adjacent drop-down box to "Publication title - PUB." Next, change the Publication date box to "Last 7 days" or the time period that suits you. The rest is up to you the searcher - to enter a name or topic, etc.

*For non-U.S. news, leave the search boxes empty but scroll down, change Publication date to “last 7 days” and in Location, enter country name, e.g., “Taiwan,” select Source Type "Newspapers" and Sort Results by “Most recent first.” When viewing results, look for place name in the publication and scan for relevant topics. *Covers 1977-present but dates vary.

Newspaper Bias

Look for the same day in the 2 newspapers below. Both papers will cover the same stories, one from a more conservative, right-leaning perspective and the other from a more central, slightly left-leaning viewpoint. Which is which?
