Nurses’ Health Studies

Be part of the world-famous Nurses' Health Study! Contribute to groundbreaking research on lifestyle, environment, nurses' worklife, and wellness by giving one hour of your time online a year. Nurses or student nurses age 19 to 51 (born after Jan. 1 1965) are eligible to participate.

The Nurses’ Health Studies are among the largest and longest-running investigations of factors that influence health and wellness. Started in 1976 and expanded in 1989, the information provided by 238,000 dedicated nurse-participants has led to many new insights on health and disease. While the prevention of cancer is still a primary focus, the study has also produced landmark data on cardiovascular disease, diabetes and many other conditions. Most important, these studies have shown that diet, physical activity and other lifestyle factors can promote better health.

The Nurses’ Health Studies is supported by the American Nurses Association, National Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses, National Black Nurses Association, Institute for Nursing Healthcare Leadership,  National League for Nursing, National Student Nurses Association,  Society of Gastroenterology Nurses & Associates, American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, among others.
