1. What is your topic?

2. What are the key concepts in your topic?  (It's usually better to limit to two or three concepts, since more may be too narrow to retrieve any significant results.)

3. List synonyms and/or narrower terms for each key concept.  (It's a good idea to verify these terms and/or find other appropriate terms in Thesaurus before actually executing your search.

4. Create a search strategy by using OR to combine synonyms/narrower terms and AND to combine key concepts.  Example: (eating disorders OR anorexia nervosa OR bulimia) AND (behavior modification OR behavior therapy OR biofeedback training\
