Place requests for items to avoid having to enter the stacks and handle materials!
To Find Books:
- From the Library homepage, enter your search in the "Find articles, books, & more" box, then refine your results.
- Use separate boxes for your composer, piece title, type of piece, or other keywords.
- When searching for a type of piece, use the plural, e.g., "sonatas" or "concertos" (not concerti). You may use keywords like "piano sonatas op. 23" if you change the drop-down menu at the end of the search box to "all of these" instead of "as a phrase."

- Search by COMPOSER, PERFORMER or by TITLE:>
- Choose BASIC SEARCH. Click on Author (for performer) or on Title.
- Type composer's or performer's name (e.g., stravinsky igor OR ellington duke). Click on Search.

Limit the language to English - WorldCat (FirstSearch)Search title and author, or search person's name as a subject, add keywords Thesis OR dissertation, limit Language to English.
If we don't have it, borrow dissertation from another library (click on Get it @ GVSU, then Doc Delivery).
Google the dissertation author's last name and the title in quotes, then look for a .edu site for the pdf.
