Finding CDs, books, scores
Call Numbers are locations for books, CDs, and scores. Call numbers beginning with the letter M are on the 3rd floor of the
- M Scores (Mini- then full-size)
- ML Books about music
- MT Books about teaching music or more technical information about music
To Find Books:
- From the Library homepage, enter your search in the "Find articles, books, & more" box, then filter your results.
- When searching for a type of piece, use the plural, e.g., "sonatas" or "concertos" (not concerti). You may use keywords like "piano sonatas op. 23"
Searching for Specific Items:
- Search by composer, performer, or by title.
- Type composer's or performer's last name then first name (e.g., stravinsky igor OR ellington duke). Click on Search.

Limit the language to English - WorldCat (FirstSearch)Search title and author, or search person's name as a subject, add keywords Thesis OR dissertation, limit Language to English.
If we don't have it, borrow dissertation from another library (click on Get it @ GVSU, then Doc Delivery).
Google the dissertation author's last name and the title in quotes, then look for a .edu site for the pdf.
