- GVSU - Student Employment OfficeStudent Employment works with all University departments and the community to create part-time and summer employment opportunities for students. As part of the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, we administer the Federal Work-Study Program university-wide. The purpose of Student Employment is to aid students in obtaining employment that will help finance their education and develop work skills for their future career choice.
- GVSU - Oliver Wilson ScholarsThe Oliver Wilson Scholars program is a learning community that is designed to provide comprehensive academic, professional and social support to students. This program offers multi-dimensional support both in group and one-on-one settings. The Oliver Wilson Scholars program focuses on easing the transition for students from high school to college, with a heavy emphasis on academic preparation, personal development and skill building.
- GVSU - Thompson ScholarsThe Robert and Ellen Thompson Scholarship programs provide students with the financial, academic and individualized support needed to successfully pursue and complete their college degree. Working closely with the Thompson Foundation, GVSU strives to engage and connect with our scholars to achieve the student outcomes that Bob and Ellen Thompson envisioned and that their generosity has made possible.
- GVSU - Trio ProgramsThe Federal TRIO Programs (TRIO) are outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide services for individuals with varying needs. TRIO includes many different programs targeted to serve and assist students to access and complete college. Students in TRIO programs can progress through the academic pipeline starting in middle school to post-baccalaureate programs. TRIO students include those that are first in their families to go to college, have a limited income, or have a disability.

- GVSU - CARE Flyer for faculty/staff for students of concernAs a faculty or staff member at GVSU, you may be the first to recognize that a student is struggling. Our environment encourages faculty and staff to show care and concern for students. Please check in with them to see how they are doing. There are times when a quick check-in may not be enough and you discover more support is needed. When more support is needed, GV Cares* is an online referral system where trained staff will review each referral and provide appropriate outreach and resources.

- The Benefits of a Comprehensive Retention Program for African American Students at a Predominantly White UniversitySince the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the retention of African American students at predominately White colleges and universities continues to be problematic. Although many of these institutions have implemented retention programs for African American students, few have incorporated a comprehensive program that utilizes multi-program components. Using a qualitative methodology, this study explored how a comprehensive retention program at one predominantly White university impacted the matriculation of African American students.
